US stainless sheet prices rise further in September

Stainless steel sheet prices in the United States continued trending upward in September, with several market participants predicting spot prices will rise further in the coming weeks.

Fastmarkets' monthly assessment for stainless steel 304 cold-rolled sheet, fob mill US was $184.75 per hundredweight ($3,695 per short ton) on Friday September 10, up by 3.21% from $179 per cwt on August 10 and up by 7.57% from $171.75 per cwt on July 12. This is the highest price since the assessment stood at $193.75 per cwt in June 2011.The assessment for stainless steel 304L cold-rolled sheet, fob mill US was $186.75 per cwt ($3,735 per ton) on September 10, up by 3.18% from $181 per cwt on August 10 and up by 7.48% from $173.75 per cwt on July 12.
