US steel import volumes rise month on month in October

Imports of finished steel to the United States surged month on month in October due to higher bloom, billet and slab, reinforcing bar and cold-rolled sheet volumes, according to US Census Bureau data.

The US imported 1.36 million tonnes of steel products in October, up 18.9% from nearly 1.15 million tonnes in September, preliminary Census data showed.

Imports of bloom, billet and slab climbed by 191.7% to 233,798 tonnes in October from 80,154 tonnes in September, and reinforcing bar imports rose 95.4% to 76,347...
