Vietnam's Hoa Phat to raise long steel capacity; construction steel sales jump in March

Vietnamese integrated steelmaker Hoa Phat plans to raise its long steel capacity by installing a new wire rod rolling mill at its Dung Quat site, located some 700km south of capital city Hanoi.

The announcement of further long steel capacity at the sprawling Dung Quat complex follows a rise in steel sales for the company during the month of March.
Hoa Phat's new rolling mill will have a capacity of 1 million tonnes per year of wire rod, according to equipment producer Danieli, which will be fed by 12m-long, 150-mm-square-billets produced by the upstream continuous casting system at the steel plant.

The mill will produce wire rod coils in diameters of 5.5-25 mm, in low-, medium- and high-carbon grades, Danieli said. This will be the third long steel...
