Vietnam's HRC import prices fall on sustained weakness in demand

Import prices for re-rolling-grade hot-rolled coil sold into Vietnam continued to fall over the past week with offers becoming more competitive amid persistently weak demand.

Metal Bulletin's assessment of HRC import prices in Southeast Asia - which mainly looks at Chinese 2-3mm SAE1006 HRC and equivalent grades sold into Vietnam - was $595-607 per tonne cfr for the week ended Monday April 16, down $3-5 per tonne from a week earlier.Market sources said demand remained weak because buyers were standoffish and had lowered their bids.Buyers were bidding for...
