(IDEX Online) - Violent armed raiders left workers terrified when they stormed a jewelry store in New Jersey, USA, and fled with an estimated $1m or more of merchandise.

The seven masked robbers threw staff to the ground as they ransacked display cases at Virani, specialists in antique-style Indian jewelry, in Iselin, New Jersey.

Shocking CCTV images show a woman employee being forced to the ground as the raiders smash glass cabinets with hammers to grab gold necklaces, bracelets and bangles.

One witness told the New York Post: "They came in like they owned the store. They're like 'All right, everybody down,' breaking stuff, filling up their bags, walking away like they had no worries in the world."

The raid happened at 7.45pm last Friday (10 June) just before closing time and took just 60 seconds.  CCTV showed the robbers speeding off in a getaway car. Nobody was seriously hurt.
