Vital acquires organometallics business from Lanxess

Minor metals producer Vital Materials has acquired specialty chemicals company Lanxess' organometallics business, Vital said on Friday February 7.

The plant located in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, produces high-purity gallium, indium and aluminium-based metalorganic sources including trimethylgallium, trimethylaluminum, triethylgallium and trimethylindium.
The organometallics are used for the manufacture of LED chips, photovoltaics and other semiconductor applications.
This purchase is in line with Vital's recent trend of acquisitions, including the purchase of Orrion Chemical's bismuth pharma activity in Spain last year and the acquisition of Heraeus' high-performance sputtering targets production facility in Singapore in 2018.
