(IDEX Online) - It is being billed as the world's first diamond cricket bat.Diamond Tech Company, based in Surat, India, has crafted a natural rough diamond into a 1.04-ct polished stone that is replica of the wooden bat used by cricketers. The diamond's "skin" - found only among natural stones - has deliberately been left intact on the handle and elsewhere, as proof that it is not a lab grown. "This skin serves as evidence of authenticity and sets the Diamond Bat apart as an unparalleled creation," said company director Utpal Mistry. The cricket bat is a gift from an unnamed fan to Virat Kohli, 35, former captain of the Indian national cricket team. His name had been inscribed on the diamond. It was graded by GIA Mumbai, which said it was a light brown Type IIa diamond, measuring 14.20mm ?- 4.12mm ?- 2.13 mm.
