Yunnan imposes restrictions on ferrous, non-ferrous metals sectors

Yunnan province, in China's southwestern region, has imposed restrictions on the operations of a few industries with high energy consumption, according to a notice seen by Fastmarkets.

Issued by the Yunnan provincial development and reform commission on Saturday September 11, the notice highlighted operational curbs on a number of ferrous and non-ferrous metals - including steel, aluminium, silicon metal, and ferro-alloys - from September until December to control energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Steel industries in the province will have to shift at least 30% of their September production to November and December, according to the notice.
